Home & Pet Sitting Service

Gaye Abbott With Ally, Lab Extraordinaire

JoyfulGaye’s Home & Pet Sitting Service

Are you going out of town and need someone trustworthy, attentive, loving and compassionate to care for your beloved pets and/or home sanctuary ?

Living in Western N. Carolina for almost three years now, I am in love with the natural beauty and the warm welcoming community here. Only two blocks walking distance to downtown Weaverville and the Nature Park, I live simply and celebrate the many blessings of living in a small connected community with the beauty of nature all around us.

Over the years I have nurtured, played with, and have been comforted by many companion animals including cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, bunnies and a variety of others my now adult sons would find while growing up.

Though I cannot have pets where I am now living, I do have the opportunity to “love on” and connect with others’ pets and their humans, as well as commune with nature, on my daily walks at the Nature Park and elsewhere, as well as through my pet sitting service.

What a joy to realize I can turn this into a service for those who have need. I am happy to say I specialize in elder animals though will care for any age!

I feel that pets feel most secure and safe when they are in their own environment. If you choose for me to stay overnight in your home I will focus and bond with them through daily affection, care, walks if requested, and play. Daily texts with pictures will update you on how your pet is doing. Your home will be well taken care of as well.

Or, maybe you are just looking for someone to be in your home (without pets), watch over it, water plants and gardens, collect mail/packages and other tasks that you may need taken care of while you are gone. Know that everything will be kept clean and well kept…..and you may find a small appreciation gift when you return home!

Below you will find the services I offer as well as fees, testimonials and a bit about the organization to whom I donate 5% of all fees received. I would love to hear from you and learn more about your present needs for home and/or pet sitting. I do book ahead so as soon as you know the dates you may need my services please contact me to reserve.

Thank you for completing the form at the bottom of this page. We will schedule a home visit before available dates are reserved. During this visit I will request completion of an information form on your specific home needs and that of your pets. Testimonials are always welcome as are personal referrals.

I look forward to connecting…..perhaps we shall even meet in person walking along the trails!

TESTIMONIALS:

“If you are looking for peace of mind while away from home, I highly recommend you call Gaye Abbott. Gaye is gifted in her ability to connect with animals and with people. She is of strong integrity and I trust her completely. Gaye formed a beautiful connection with our beloved dog, Ally (who has since passed).

Gaye took her for many walks and deeply cared for her with love and compassion. I had Ally on a special raw food diet, which others may have had difficulty dealing with, but no problem with Gaye handling it. Ally was always very excited to see Gaye since she knew that delightful and happy things were going to happen!

Even though we don’t have a pet at this time, we continue to hire Gaye to take care of our home while we are away since we explicitly trust her to take care of all the details so perfectly. We have a very tricky waterfall pond situation that needs attending and we trust Gaye to handle it.  Honestly, if Gaye is available snatch her up, you won’t regret it!”

Marilyn & Mark Weinstein: “Gaye watched our dog and two cats while we were away for the day. We were so grateful because she sent us pictures of our pets and gave us updates while we were gone. It was a pleasure working with Gaye and seeing how happy our pets were. I highly recommend her for pet sitting.

“Very comfortable with Gaye taking care of our dogs.  Each evening we received a photo and news of the day.  We already have her scheduled for another stay with our pooches!  Thank you, Gaye.”

“Oh, I hardly know where to start. Gaye has been such a gift to us. She is more than just calm, experienced, loving, and trustworthy. As if that isn’t enough, she is also absolutely  wonderful with our funny little dog Gordon. He’s always felt a little lost and depressed whenever we have to travel, but Gaye bonded with him almost immediately, and he was just so comfortable with her. For example, he hardly plays with ANYONE except us, and he played with her, cuddled with her…. (I’m convinced that, if he could talk, he’d say ‘Hey, where’s that nice lady? Can she come back?’). Now they’re best buddies and we feel so much more relaxed and relieved when we need to go out of town and leave Gordon at home.  I know our home and kid are in the best of hands. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“Words cannot express how incredibly happy I am to have met Gaye!! In almost four years of being a mama to my two little rescue babies, I have only left them once before (with someone they knew). After moving to NC three months ago, I didn’t think I would ever find someone I would trust with my babies. Gaye went above and beyond. My dogs LOVED her from the minute they met, and she kept me updated throughout my time away with pictures and little stories. When I returned home you wouldn’t have even known that someone had been there. Gaye is kind, respectful and very knowledgeable as a pet sitter. I am already on her waiting list for my next trip in October!

We recently moved to the area and have been looking for several months for a pet sitter for our two senior dogs, Mick & Quinn. It took several months of meeting with other pet sitters and we were introduced to, Gaye. From the moment Gaye came into our home and seeing her interact with our pups and how relaxed they were around her we knew she would be the perfect person to entrust with our ‘kids.’

Our first pet sitting experience with Gaye was fantastic! She sent pictures and provided us updates during her stay which really put us at ease. Our dogs absolutely LOVE Gaye and we are pretty sure they were upset when we arrived home since Gaye had to leave!

Mick & Quinn are excited for future pet sitting experiences with Gaye! They both give her 2 paws up!!

SUSAN DUNBAR

This is Bella, my 16-year old Cocker. She is completely deaf, and has arthritis in her rear legs and hips that challenges her walking at times. Gaye took care of her while my husband and I were away, and I can’t say enough about the compassion she had with Bella. Bella took an instant liking to Gaye, and waited by the door for her to come. I know that she received lots of loving care from Gaye, and Bella was very well-behaved.

I would recommend Gaye to anyone wanting reassurance that their beloved pet will be under gentle, loving care. I will trust Bella to Gaye’s care again myself when the need arises!

Meet Charley and Maya! Both are 15 years old. Charley has special needs that come with age. He no longer sees or hears and requires extra attention these days.

Gaye Abbott is a treasure! We have never felt so at ease then when our beloved Pups are in her care. It’s a comfort to know that C&M are home and in their own routine when we are away for extended periods of time.

Gaye is delightfully upbeat, warm hearted, willing and completely attuned to the care of Elder Pets.

Five Stars for Gaye Abbott Pet Sitting!
Thank you Gaye❣️🐾

GAIL WILSON

These are my girls, Bijou and Ramona. They are in love with Gaye and I don’t blame them. Gaye came into our home and they were immediately comfortable with her and Ramona does not take to other people quickly at all! But she came out of the closet where she hides when people come over and never went back. The girls joined Gaye in the living room for yoga in the mornings (I have photos to prove it!) and were with her throughout the days.

Ramona is also a very finicky eater and Gaye was able to make her happy with her meals and had great patience with her. The texts and photos that she sent every day gave me the peace of mind to really enjoy my vacation and not worry about a thing back home.

I’m so impressed with Gaye’s love of animals and her ability to make them immediately at home with her. I would trust Gaye in my home and with my babies ANYTIME and just hope I can get onto her schedule when I have future travel plans.

Book her up in advance – she’s very much in demand and with good reason. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

CAROL FLEMING-SONNTAG

I am blessed to have found Gaye to take care of my dog, Miss Freddie.  Miss Freddie is a Bearded Collie that is nearly 13 and has heart failure.  Gaye has been amazing with Miss Freddie.  My dog takes medication twice a day.  Gaye is so gentle with my old lady.

I also have two kittens.  Again, could not ask for better care.
